Description: Owens Valley residents' occupation of the Alabama Gates, of the Los Angeles Aqueduct. Occupiers gathered between bridge over aqueduct and shack. Flag flying over shack. Aqueduct still has water, indicating that this photograph was taken during an early stage of the occupation. Photographer's inscription, middle right of photograph: "Bishop Ranchers Take Control of L. A. Acqueduct (sic) Nov. 16-20 1924." Title supplied by cataloger.
