Photograph was edited for publication purposes San Fernando Valley State College is now California State University, Northridge. Photograph caption dated October 17, 1963 reads "Students at Valley State College in Northridge join in a letter-writing demonstration in support of President John F. Kennedy's proposed civil rights legislation. Sponsored by a group of students, the demonstration was held at noon Wednesday on the cafeteria patio. It ended with a three-block march to the post office to mail the letters to congressmen and senators."
