Public opening of the first section of US Route 101 (Santa Ana Freeway transitioning to the Hollywood Freeway), from Grand Avenue to Silverlake Boulevard, 1950 December 27. Present were Mayor Fletcher Bowron, Lieutenant Governor Goodwin J. Knight, Supervisor Ernest E. Debs, and Highway Commission Harrison R. Baker.
