Photograph of the interior of a Navajo dwelling, or hogan, ca.1901. Rough-hewn timbers form the walls, and beams which support the wooden planks of the ceiling. The floor is dirt. At the right several animal pelts hang from a horizontal pole. Blankets, bedding, sacks, and clothing sit or hang near the far wall. A leather purse or wallet hangs from one of the roof beams at left.
