Description
Funeral program for Technical Sergeant George Z. Akiyama, Company F, 442nd Regimental Combat Team, who was killed in action on July 3, 1944 in Castellino, Italy. Funeral service was organized by Nisei post 8985, V. F. W. and held at the Buddhist church in Sacramento, California. Program includes names of participants and schedule of church and graveside services. Includes the poem, "How Sleep the Brave," by William Collins. The Japanese American Archival Collection documents the people, places, and daily life of Japanese Americans, primarily those who lived in the once thriving community of pre-war Florin in the Sacramento region, as well as the conditions in American incarceration camps during World War II. The approximately 7,000 original items include personal and official letters, photographs, diaries, arts and crafts, newsletters, textiles, camps artifacts, yearbooks and other publications.
