Photographic portrait of Theodore Roosevelt planting an orange tree in front of the Mission Inn, Riverside, 1903. Roosevelt stands at center with a shovel in his hands, a mound of dirt in front of him and one of the two surviving Washington Navel Orange trees to the left of him. He is surrounded by a crowd of onlookers who stand either on the ground around him or above him on the balcony of the Frank Miller's adobe-style Mission Inn, which sports terracotta roof tiles. He is dressed in a top hat and tails. An American flag can be seen draped over the Inn's roof in the upper right hand corner.
