Shades of L.A. is an archive of photographs representing the contemporary and historic diversity of families in Los Angeles. Images were chosen from family albums and include daily life, social organizations, work, personal and holiday celebrations, and migration and immigration activities. Title supplied by cataloger.; Image is a reproduction. Ersin Z. Sivrican was born in Turkey in 1977 and emigrated from Istanbul to Los Angeles in 1995 with his family. His uncle had already lived here for 10 years with his wife and children. Ersin attended Santa Monica College and graduated from UCLA in 2001. He and his wife Giselle lived in Corona, CA. Ersin Sivrican (donor, wearing glasses next to the Turkish flag) smiles while celebrating with his fellow graduates at Özel Ata High School as they toss their graduation caps in the air; the graduation ceremony took place in the school yard. A basketball hoop can be seen behind the students in the background, and a row of apartment buildings are visible on the left.
