Description
A woman boards the Pacific Electric Red Car No. 300, express, to Long Beach as it stops in front of a hotel. The Long Beach line was the last trolley line to be discontinued and the first to be brought back as light rail. Photo caption reads: "Car 300 above was the first unit to be completed in a modernization program involving a total of 71 interurban cars and the expenditure of approximately $600,000. Seating 80 passengers and with improved no-draft ventilating system, the cars have definite rider appeal and have been ehnthusiastically received by patrons". Photo dated: Mar. 19, 1947.
