Photograph caption dated February 2, 1948 reads, "Mrs. Oliver Gottlieb, left, of North Hollywood, and Mrs. Eddie Leven of Burbank hold 'Blackie' and 'Pepper' after being awarded the two cocker spaniels by Burbank veterinarians. The pups, both injured several weeks ago when struck by motorists, had reprieves from death in city dog pound when deluge of Valley residents sought to 'adopt' them."; See images #00122907 through #00122909 for all photos in this series.
