The Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture is a two-year community college in Woodland Hills, California. It opened in September 1947, with 70 students and 18 faculty members and is part of the Los Angeles Community College District. The school's initial focus was crop cultivation and animal husbandry, and still retains a large swatch of open fields for hands-on working farm training. In 1956 the school was renamed Los Angeles Pierce College. Photograph caption dated September 30, 1961 reads, "Pierce College's newly-crowned freshmen queen Terry Turner, 18, 19006 Vose St., Reseda, draws the glances of her four princesses. They are, top, Valerie Hirsch, 18, 912 N. Laurel, Los Angeles, and Susan Frick, 18, 10044 Lurline Ave., Chatsworth; bottom, Diana Lee, 17, 5414 Shirley Ave., Tarzana, and Romaine Baker, 18, right, 18239 Topham St., Reseda. The five, chosen from 18 contestants, were crowned Friday night at the college's Frosh Fling."
