This photograph corresponds to page 28 of the book Of California's First Citrus Empire: A Rainbow Arches From Maine to Ventura County. Writing concerning photo in book reads: "From Aunt Sarah on the window-ledge, in front, are grandmother Ann Elizabeth, Nathan Weston Blanchard 11 (with toy top), grandfather Blanchard and cousin Elizabeth (Blanchard) Kelsey restraining the candy-hand of Eliot while Dean's attention skids to toy research. Standing in back appear Aunt Eunice (Blanchard) Kelsey, N.W. Blanchard Jr. and his wife." On the back of the photograph is written the following: "Family of Nathan Weston Blanchard, Sr. (Founder of Santa Paula, California, and Pomona College) on veranda. 'Piazza' @ 'EI Naranjal' residence at Santa Paula, California. Right to left: His eldest (if not favorite) daughter, Sarah Eliot Blanchard, his wife, my grandmother, Anne Elizabeth (Hobbs) Blanchard; Aunt Eunice Blanchard Kelsey, 2nd daughter also born at Dutch Flat (1871); my elder brother, N.W.
