Photograph article dated October 4, 1963 partially reads, "Birmingham High's sensational 11th-grade distance star Kim Ellison started the 1963 cross-country season with a 'rush' Thursday afternoon by touring Pierce College's 1.8-mile course in the amazing time of 9:09. Ellison won the 10th-grade city cross-country championship last year and captured the 1962 Los Angeles city mile as a 10th grader in 4:25. So, running's his business and business was good for the personable Ellison yesterday." Photograph caption reads, "Kim Ellison warms up before cross country race - Ellison, 11th grader, was winner at Pierce College Thursday."
