Description
"Der Hof der Tischlerei in Rungwe. Mbukile. Br. Holland [=Hollan]." ("Yard of the joiner's workshop in Rungwe. Mbukile. Br[other] Hollan[ ]."). Five Africans and Brother Hollan standing in a yard surrounded by three thatched sheds and big trees. Grass in the foreground. Imprinted on the image: "1618.".
Photo included from the box of duplicates. -- Paul Oswald Hollan (1877-unknown) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. He served as a joiner from 1903 to 1916 in Rungwe until his internment in 1916. He returned to Germany in 1919. In 1909 he had married Augusta Gertrud(e), née Zöllner (1883-unknown).
