Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated April 3, 1965 partially reads, “Seven small children stepped out onto the deck of the Burbank YMCA indoor swimming pool. The four- and five-year-olds walked to the edge of the pool in the shallow end and sat down. The little girls were garbed in miniature copies of grown-up styled swimming suits, but there wasn't a topless one in the crowd. The little boys, in their wisps of bathing trunks, sat next to their feminine classmates without any protest - that comes when they grow older. Their teacher, Mrs. Ella Ferguson, mother of 1964 Olympic swimming champ Kathy Ferguson, dived into the pool and faced her young students." Photograph caption reads, "Water's fine - Mrs. Ferguson shows a member of the class how to get used to water. Tots meet twice a week."; See image #00132391 for additional photo in this series.
