The four- and five-year-olds walked to the edge of the pool in the shallow end and sat down. The little girls were garbed in miniature copies of grown-up styled swimming suits, but there wasn't a topless one in the crowd. The little boys, in their wisps of bathing trunks, sat next to their feminine classmates without any protest - that comes when they grow older. Their teacher, Mrs. Ella Ferguson, mother of 1964 Olympic swimming champ Kathy Ferguson, dived into the pool and faced her young students."
