View of a street with streetcar cable lines above and tracks below; tracks at front of photo turn corner to the right; after the intersection buildings appear on both sides of street; on left side is large 3 story buildings with "Rooms" printed on the side; on its left on the corner is a smaller 2 story building; on the right a street light stands on the corner; behind it is a large 3 story building; on its first floor is the "Shamrock Cafe", identified above the first floor; to its right is an historic-looking, 2 story building with a roof comb on top.
Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento.
"Lombard & Goss, 'flouring mill' erected in 1854, located on the northwest corner of 2nd & I street. Old elevator is still in the basement of this bldg."
