In the foreground lies an extensive rose garden, divided into various plots with a main plot running down the center towards the entrance of the armory. In the middle, at left, a man appears to be working with the plants. Directly behind the garden lies the armory, which is a large two-story building with twenty-six visible windows and a columned entrance. On the roof of the armory, a flag is visible as well as what appears to be roof windows.
