Description
Mrs. Maisonave demonstrates sheltering in a closet as she sits with a pillow on her head. Photo caption reads: "Mrs. Mary Maisonave, 75 year-old California pioneer, is shown in the air raid shelter she set up in her apartment house at 5128 Marathon Street. It is a closet converted into a shelter. On the table are candle, water, radio and other items that keep a person comfortable. She says the closet door will protect her from being hit by flying glass from the outside and the pillow will protect her from plaster". Photo dated: Jan. 16, 1942.
