Photograph caption dated May 28, 1957 reads, "Despite serious injury to his shoulder, Birmingham High's Jerry Seymour is seen qualifying in the 50-yard freestyle yesterday in the Valley League swim prelims at Harvard Boys School pool. Seymour, however, withdrew from the 100. Another injured splasher, Jerry Lipman, came back strong to also qualify for the finals Friday at Harvard."
