Description
Image of a certificate from the Warden's Office of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, authorizing the West Jersey Ferry Company to build a ferry slip on the Delaware River; image of the waterfront with ships sailing and rowboats at top center; seal for Delaware Bay at bottom left corner; decorative border; additional text along left margin.
Engraving with lithograph image at top. "Philadelphia March 14th, 1877 / Know all men by these Presents That at a Meeting of the Board / of Wardens for the Port of Philadelphia held at this Office in the City of Philadelphia / on the Fourteenth day of March A.D. 1877 the said Board of Wardens by / the authority vested in them by the Laws of the United States and the Laws of the Common wealth of Pennsylvania authorized and by these presents do authorize the West / Jersey Ferry Company their heirs, executors, administrators or assigns to / build a Ferry Slip on the Delaware River..."--printed and handwritten text, center of image. "License of Philada. Port Warden for Building Ferry Slip &c on the Clyde Property &c"--text, handwritten on verso.
