Description
A man is being helped at the ticket counter (now closed to the public), located in the north-western section of Los Angeles Union Station. The station's architectural details: the tiled floors, travertine marble walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, large chandeliers and beamed ceiling are visible. The wing of the station where the former restaurant was located can be seen through the windows and across the patio, partially visible in the background. In the center of the image is an information kiosk, which greets travelers who enter the station from its main entrance. Located at 800 N. Alameda Street, Union Station was designed by the father and son team of John Parkinson and Donald B. Parkinson, and opened in May 1939. In 1980 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places, Building #80000811.
