Title supplied by cataloger.; Photograph was edited for publication purposes and has creases. Paul Behrmann was the former manager of Anne Nichols, author of the popular play, "Abie's Irish Rose." In 1947, Behrmann was charged with taking $10,000 from a Mrs. Wanda Schoemann who assumed the money was going to help Nichols. He was also charged with stealing $10,000 from the author, withdrawn from her bank account without her permission. Nichols testified that she was solvent and had no need to arrange for a loan from anyone. Behrmann was convicted. Photograph caption dated February 4, 1948 reads "At preliminary hearing on theft charges."
