Shades of L.A. is an archive of photographs representing the contemporary and historic diversity of families in Los Angeles. Images were chosen from family albums and include daily life, social organizations, work, personal and holiday celebrations, and migration and immigration activities. A memorial service in Japan for Osaki, a Los Angeles resident who was born in Japan. When she died, her funeral was held at the Gardena Buddhist Church and she was bured in San Pedro. Her brothers, who had stayed in Japan, also held a memorial service for her.
