Description
This circa 1915 postcard shows the Southern Methodist Episcopal Church at 1431 J Street and the Westminster Presbyterian Church at 1235 K Street. The former, made of brick and wood, was built in 1906 for 14,000 dollars, but vacated in 1924 in order to capitalize on the property's increased valuation with the growth of J Street as a business hub. The latter property was vacated in 1926 in favor of a new structure on Thirteenth and N Streets.
