Description
Portrait of Councilman Gordon R. Hahn of the Eighth District. Hahn, a Republican, was born in Canada, but was brought to Los Angeles at the age of one year. He graduated from Kings Point, one of six academies established by Congress, in 1944 and received a bachelor's degree at Pepperdine College. Hahn taught Constitutional history and state government at Pepperdine and was elected to the Assembly in 1947, one of the youngest men ever to win political office in the state. He resigned during his fourth term in the Assembly, when he was appointed to the Los Angeles City Council seat vacated when his brother, Kenneth was elected to the Board of Supervisors in 1953.
