Description
Photograph of an enormous grape vine, originally planted in 1842, Montecito (or Carpenteria?), Santa Barbara, ca.1903. The massive tree-trunk-sized vine sprouts from the ground and extends upwards towards the pergola where it spreads outwards covering the heavily laden pergola. The wooden beams of the pergola can be seen succumbing to the weight of the thick vines. The dirt floor is littered with leaves. Trees are visible in the background.
