Alternate title from cover. The two routes are: direct, requiring considerable pumping over hills, or around the western shoreline and north to keep pumping requirements to a minimum. Profiles for both routes are shown at the top of the map. Blue colored areas would be served first since they are below the level of the reservoir on Broadway between Larkin and Division Sts. Yellow colored areas are above the reservoir level (including Russian Hill, etc.) MS notes: Portion colored blue is to be supplied water in the first instance.
