Description
A gathering of people, on chairs and under umbrellas, on the lawn of Villa Montalvo. They may be listening to a concert. The man in foreground, at right, is probably James D. Phelan. He owned Villa Montalvo. Phelan's will instructed that the estate was to be used by the public to promote the arts; today, it is the Montalvo Arts Center.
