California Nursery Co.- Women working, standing and packing things. Poeding Fig Packing Shed, Fresno. Calimyrne Figs. Black and white. See p. 69 Niles, Fremont (unreferenced book: 'Shown here are nursery workers in the redwood packing shed in the 1920s at the California Nursery. Some of these sheds still stand in the part of the California Nursery Company Historical Park that is leased by Naka Nursery. This is a posed promotional photograph with various steps of the packing process underway. Into the 1930s bare-root plants were still packed in dried tules from the creekside marshes, then rolled in brown paper and tied with string to be sent s bundle by rail shipment to mail-order customers.'
