Description
Photograph of the altar at east end of the church of Mission San Fernando, California, 1924. The altar is made of wood. A simple wooden cross stands over it. Two steps leading the the altar are covered with dirt and other debris in the foreground. An arched doorway at right is blocked by a wooden gate. An arched alcove on the other side of the altar is symetric in its shape and placement to this door. Plaster has fallen from most of the high walls exposing the adobe construction beneath. The beams and rafters of the peaked roof are visible above while the roof itself is missing.
