Description
Grace Paley is one of the great American short-story writers. Her Collected Stories was a finalist for both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award. From 1986 to 1988, Ms. Paley was New York’s first official state author; she was also a past poet laureate of Vermont. Herbert Gold is an author known was part of the literary crowd of the Beat Generation. His papers are held at the Bancroft Library. Richard Dick Day began teaching at Humboldt State University in 1959. In the 1960s and 1970s, he was instrumental in bringing major poets and writers to teach and read at Humboldt.
