Description
In this photograph, the lemons are being graded for quality as follows: top quality carried the Sunkist brand label, next came the Red Ball brand, and the lowest quality were called Standards. Golden West Citrus Association was established around 1917, initially packing lemons, then adding an orange packing house around 1930. The packing house was located on the east side of Newport Avenue, south of Irvine Boulevard.
