Description
Image of a group of eight female and male performers in a rowboat on a lake with individuals playing a violin to two howling dogs, rowing the boat, looking through a telescope at a hat, singing from sheet music, popping the cork on a bottle of champagne, catching a turtle on a fishing line, and playing a practical joke with a frog; the poster advertises the musical comedy "The Brook" performed by Salsbury's Troubadours.
Margins and title of local copy trimmed; title supplied by cataloger based on text of banners in image; probable date and printer supplied by cataloger based on artist's general history; Morgan worked for the Strobridge Lithograph Company from 1878 until 1885. "Matt Morgan"--text, artist's signature in stone, bottom left.
