Photograph of a drawing by R. W. Porter depicting an interior view of Mount Palomar Observatory and a cross-sectional view of the 200-inch telescope, 1938. The astronomical telescope is illustrated at two distinct angles and with varying degrees of transparency. To the right of center, the tubular shape of the telescope appears to be disected in half, revealing what appears to be an astronomer perched atop the prime focus mechanism. To the left of center, a left slanted view of a look at the telescope is drawn as a phantom image to demonstrate the possible movement of the telescope. In the background, what seems to be some sort of support apparatus for the telescope sits slanted to the right. The interior and cross-section of the observatory is visible surrounding the telescope.
