Description
Lapel pin commemorating initial induction from the NASL era of the San Jose Earthquakes: player #10 Paul Child and founder and former owner Milan Mandaric as Builder into the Earthquakes Hall of Fame. Ceremony held at halftime of the Quakes vs. FC Dallas match on September 29, 2012, at Buck Shaw Stadium. Mandaric, born September 5, 1938 in Yugoslavia, settled in the United States in 1969. He formed one of the founding computer components companies in Silicon Valley, the Lika Corporation, in 1971. He used his profits to invest in soccer including the San Jose Earthquakes which played in the NASL. Paul Child was born December 8, 1952 in Birmingham, England. He played forward for the San Jose Earthquakes, including the indoor team, from 1974-1979, making 153 appearances and scoring 68 goals. In 1972, he made two appearances for the United States Men's National Team (USMNT). In 2003, Child was inducted in the United States Soccer Hall of Fame and in 2013, he was inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame.
