Black and white photograph showing Emily Godfrey (1884-1978), the Matron at the Ama Achara Methodist Hospital run by the Primitive Methodist Missionary Society (later the Methodist Missionary Society.) She holds a small baby in her arms, whom the mission rescued from the bush. The hospital at Ama Achara cared for a large number of babies, particularly twins, who were abandoned to die since they were believed to bring bad luck. The caption to the image reads: "E.G 1923 Miriam - twin baby rescued from the Bush." This photograph was pasted into one of a series of exercise book albums created by Emily Godfrey.
