Description
A snapshot of the monument to Mary S. Ertl, M.D., 1911 October 15. Ertl, (1856 - 1931) was Los Angeles's first female physician. This photograph depicts a monument to her at the Inglewood Park Cemetery. The carved sculpture of her sitting on top of the platform with her medicine bag was removed from its original site and placed inside her mausoleum at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, where it currently resides. The photo depicts the monument in classical style with four columns supporting a shallow pediment with the doctor's name carved into the stone. Several other monuments or grave markers are visible in the background. The photograph is in good condition overall.
