Description
A three-quarters length seated studio portrait of Union First Lieutenant Charles W. Dodge of the 22nd Colored Infantry Regiment, turned partially to the right. Dodge is clean-shaven, holding his sword across his lap, resting on his right hand, and holding his gloves on his thigh in his left hand. "J E. McClees, artist, 910 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia" is stamped in black on the verso.
Title from verso. Ms note on verso reads "Wounded arm amputated (right) Near Petersburg [?] June 16th 1864". Dodge still has his arm in this photograph, so it predates June 16, 1864.
