Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Hotel Virginia in Long Beach shown from the parking lot, ca.1925. What appears to be the back side and the recreational yard of the six-story cottage-style hotel is visible entering into the frame diagonally from the left. Parked cars are visible parked along the concrete wall surrounding the premises in the foreground, while still more can be seen parked along the building's side in the left background. Ivy covers much of the walls facing the lawn to the right, where groups of guests can be seen convening in circles, sitting in swinging benches, or around the white trellis at the center. Farther back, a concrete walkway cuts down the lawn from left to right, dividing two identical fountains. In the distance, the city can be seen with highrises that advertise "Dancing" and "Chop Suey".
