The Lower and Upper San Fernando Reservoirs were renamed the Upper and Lower Van Norman reservoirs. After the 1971 earthquake damages the dams, they were replaced by the newer, more earthquake-resilient Los Angeles Dam, though the reservoir was still known as the Van Norman. Photograph caption dated February 24, 1961 reads "Keever, left, and Leachman during recent search - Minutes later, they pulled auto from San Fernando reservoir."
