Description
Photograph of four men standing in front of the California National Guard Air Unit hangars, in April 1925. In front of the hangars, the men talk in pairs, the two on the left looking towards the large expanse of land that extends left. Several aircrafts are housed in the rightmost hangar, while automobiles are parked in that of the left. The flat land at left is fenced off, and behind it lies the arborous hillside. A mountainous area can be vaguely discerned at the distance to the left. The back of the photoprint reads: "The illustration shows the availability of the neighboring hillsides for the use of tens of thousands of persons as spectators of the aeronautical events staged in the field below". Photoprint reads: "Two hangars, US Air Service, used by Cal. Nat. Guard unit. The illustration shows the availability of the neighboring hillsides for the use of tens of thousands of persons as spectators of the aeronautical events staged in the field below" and "These hangars are the property of the U.S. Air Service and are in use by the National Guard of California's Air Unit. Major C.C. Moosely, in white shirt." .
