STEREO-1306 STEREO COLLECTION: WATKINS: SAN FRANCISCO: # 3578. Orange mount; pink verso. View of a large structural arch at Kearny Street and Sutter Street taken on the Fourth of July in 1876. Banner says "The French Residents Commemorate a Century of Liberty" and portraits above show George Washington and the Marquis de LaFayette. The street and arch are decorated with French and American flags, wreaths, and garlands draped on the arch. People, horse-drawn carriages, and a horse-drawn trolley are in the street below.
