Description
Annotation translation: "An Mbembe man builds his house. Everyone [male form in the German] builds his own house. He has no hammer or trowel, his own skilled hands are his only tools [sic]. In a pit the clay is worked by being trodden. The clay is mixed with fibre from palm-oil kernals. This gives it greater strength - ([it becomes a kind of] primitive concrete). This man's hut has a diameter of some 2-3 metres, and he builds the walls 1.5 metres high. Between the two posts he makes a place for sleeping."
