1989-1228. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 14. A corner view of a two story home topped by an entablature & with a model T parked in front; photo is flanked on right by a utility pole and on left by trees; on the left of the first story is a porch which supports a second floor balcony with Corinthian columns; this porch has a stairway leading up to it and an entrance under the second story balcony; to the right a bay window protrudes in front of the porch; below a line can see windows in the basement level; the house has a second story which ends about a third of the way before the end of the porch and balcony above; on the right side of the home bay windows protrude on both the first and second story; behind the first floor bay window on the right side appears to be the screened side of a conservatory?. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Residence of A.A. Bennett, former state architect.Building erected in 1871.Bennett was the last architect to work on the State Capitol Bldg. He erected the Old Masonic Hall, 117 J st.in 1854.Mr. Bennett also erected the IOOF bldg. 9th & K st."
