Description
Photograph of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, showing the siphon at Pine Canyon, ca.1910. The large, dark pipe rests on concrete supports as it extends over the desert terrain from the foreground on the right up into the bush-spotted mountains in the background on the left. Several small structures can be seen along the aqueduct's right side. The air-tight siphons along the aqueduct allow it to operate entirely by gravity flow.
