Photograph article dated February 16, 1962 partially reads, "'Gee, dad, it's a Wurlitzer,' says the 15-year-old son of Toluca Lake theater organ hobbyist Richard Simonton - and he's not kidding. It is indeed a Wurlitzer, and its cavernous low notes can shake the foundations of a house or bring an expression of ecstasy to the faces of more than 150 Southern California organ cultists... Simonton, of 10100 Toluca Lake Ave., North Hollywood, is in the electronics business during daytime hours; he's the Muzak franchise holder in Southern California. His remaining time is spent tinkering with a house-sized 36-rank Wurlitzer theater organ with 2,600 individual pipes - one of the largest arrays in the country." Pictured is Simonton at the keyboard of his pride and joy, which one woman said looked "like a shark's mouth".; See image #00117769 for additional photo in this series.
