Description
Photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee, Feb. 2, 1963, states: "Highway patrol officers inspect the two lane section of US Highway 40 one mile west of Cisco Grove, Placer County, where the raging South Yuba River ripped out 2,000 feet of roadway. This photograph was taken yesterday at the same spot where on Thursday Bee staff writer William G. Wilson of Auburn, Placer County, photographed the highway just before it was swept away by the tremendous force of the water."
