Description
Photograph of a drawing by Ferdinand Perret depicting the Mission Santa Clara, 1935. The painting pictures an oxen fixed to a cart and a man on a horse seen from the rear in the foreground, as well as another horseman and several pedestrians in the street in front of the mission in the centerground. The mission itself is fronted by a short picket fence with an arched trellis as its entranceway leading to the arched doorway of the main building, above which what appears to be a rose window is depicted. Just above the eave of the symmetric roof is a faux arch which frames what appears to be the statue of a woman, her hands clasped in prayer. Both the mission's main building and the short tower to its right are topped by crosses. Further in the background and to the extreme right of the painting, another fence with a cross-topped arch entranceway is visible.
