Description
Robin "Bob" Burns was born Robin Burn in Greenwood, Arkansas on August 2, 1890. He was a musical comedian appearing on radio and in movies in the 1930s and 1940s, and also wrote a homey newspaper column from 1936-1940. Burns invented a novelty musical instrument which he called a "bazooka." During World War II, the Army's handheld anti-tank rocket launcher, also known as "stovepipe" was nicknamed the "bazooka." He had four children and died in 1956.; Lionel Belmore was born in England in 1867. He was a director and then a character actor on stage and in film for more than a quarter of a century. He died on January 30, 1953.; Barbara Jo Allen was born on September 2, 1906. She was an actress also known as Vera Vague, the spinster character she created and portrayed on radio and in films during the 1940s and 1950s. She also worked regularly with Bob Hope on his radio program. She died on September 14, 1974.
