Description
On March 8, 1974, Meade Kibbey unveiled a 5,000 pound black, granite sculpture titled "Africa Emerging." The sculpture is in the form of a clenched fist rising from a broke shackle. The unveiling took place at the Martin Luther King, Jr Library Branch on 7340 24th Street in Sacramento, California. The sculpture was lent to the library long term and still remains on site.
