Description
Photograph of Lincoln Beachey as the "mysterious woman aviator" at the Dominguez Hills Air Meet, 1912. Beachey's Curtiss biplane is at center and has two of its three wheels on the ground as it moves to the left. Beachey is visible at the controls near the front of the plane, and a large engine is mounted behind his head. A crowd is gathered behind the aircraft on the far side of the runway. There is a short wooden observation deck at left and several wooden shelters at right. The plane is landing just in front of a white chalk line on the dirt runway.
